Alexander Salvesen: In Relation to Colour

LED Light, aluminium, wood, 2017

"We do not see how things really are, but how they are in relation to each other"

We don’t see the world as it is, but as an intricate web of relations between everything in it. The eye is in constant motion trying to capture its environment, and creates together with the brain an ever changing view where we no longer can be sure where the change is Happening. Inside us or outside us.

In Relation to Colour is a diptych sculpture. Two surfaces and the colours they reflect change slowly making us uncertain of what actually changes. Our perception of the colours or the colour itself. The work is in constant motion, as are we.
