Anu Raatikainen: Myria I ja II

Two steel sculptures emitting light, can be hanged on the wall or placed on the ground, 2021

Myria I and Myria II are two insect or vertebrae like creatures made out of steel, who´s gaze is visible light. The sculptures, combining influences from scifi and natural science imagery are reaching towards nature as semi-dystopian and techno-romantic life forms. They could be seen as industrial and post-modernist shadow material, which feed on electricity or maybe new forms of life that try to reflect nature but succeed in it only in an estranged way.

The two sculptures create ambient lighting and can be hanged on the wall or on the ground. Their extension chords that are bringing them electricity, are part of the sculptures and can be curved in shapes as seen in the pictures.
