Ilkka Paloniemi: Juntta
A construction site themed installation with a pile driver machine and pile made out of light. A statement that culture and art should be pile driven to a deep foundation in our society.
Juntta is a part of a series of light art installations with the concept "light and heavy machinery". The work consists of a pile made out of light and a pile driver; a heavy-duty tool used to drive piles into the earth.
The work has been exhibited by the City of Turku. The pile is 400 x 400 mm in width and depth, and almost 8 meters in height. The height was defined by the age of Turku city, 782 years in 2011, which transfers to 782 mm.
