Janne Parviainen: UV-drawing installation
A site-specific UV-drawing installation on a window consisting of a vast amount of figures creating a larger composition.
In this UV-drawing installations I am interested in expressing different emotions through the dozens/hundreds of individual characters that as a whole combine a tapestry of rhythm and colour. My previous work in Porvoo, titled Liberation, was an abstracted version of Michelangelo's altar fresco in the Sistine Chapel, in which I took away all the religious elements of the original and displayed only the characters in their positions in an abstract form. In this way, the whole composition of the Michelangelo art could be seen as a play of rhythm, working only with tension between empty and full, liberated from its original narrative.
The installation can be seen from both outside and inside the building if necessary. The work can be planned specifically based on the theme of the event/exhibition and/or in a relationship with the building it is exhibited in.
