Tarja Ervasti: Seven gates
A minimalist installation for meditative perception.
A sequence of reflected light with seven mirrors.
The immaterial quality of reflected light is the essence of the minimalist artwork titled Seven gates. Reflected light forms of varying colours – the gates – carry the spectator into a tranquil state of being, an illusion of another reality.
The installation consists of seven mirrors placed side by side on the floor and the reflected light forms on a white background. The sequence of forms and changing colours develop from a slow meditative rhythm into a faster climax.
The duration of the loop is approximately 5 minutes.
